    11 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary:

    Day 1: Kampala – Semuliki National park

    Leave Kampala after breakfast for the fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta to Semuliki National Park just above the mighty Rwenzori Mountain ranges. Get your afternoon lunch in Fort Portal and then proceed.

    Proceed to Semuliki National Park. This is a home to 53 mammals of which 27 are large mammals. 11 species are endemic to the park, including the pygmy antelopes and the two flying squirrel species. It is also home to the peculiar water chevrotain, known as the ‘fanged deer’.

    Dinner and overnight stay at Semuliki Safari Lodge (high-end facility). Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner.

    Day 2: Uganda Safari and Wildlife Tour Semuliki National Park

    Morning after your breakfast is dedicated for a game drive, a park that is home to forest elephants and buffaloes which are smaller versions of their savannah-dwelling relatives. It is also a home to over 53 mammals of which 27 are large mammals. 11 species are endemic to the park including the pygmy antelopes and two flying squirrel species. It is also home to the peculiar water chevrotain, known as the ‘fanged deer’.

    Afternoon will be for a boat ride along Lake Albert for an amazing birding opportunity. Look out for the Toro Olive Greenbul, Mountain Greenbul, Yellow-throated Nicator, Western Nicator, Purple-throated Cuckoo-shrike, Petit’s Cuckoo-shrike and Black Saw-wing among others.

    Day 3: Semuliki – Kibale National Park

    After your breakfast, visit the famous Sempaya hot springs of Semuliki National Park. Sempaya Hot Springs are Semuliki’s most famous attraction. The male spring, known as ‘Bintente’, measures 12m in diameter and is set in a lush swampy clearing.

    The female spring ‘Nyasimbi, meaning ‘the female ancestors’, is a boiling geyser (103°C) which spurts bubbling water and steam up to two meters high. The steam cloud can be seen from as far as 2km away. Local people used to cook their food in these boiling pools.

    Thereafter, continue to Kibale National Park for an afternoon/evening guided nature walk in the crater lakes area.

    Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking Kibale

    In the morning, you will have breakfast before your transfer to Kibale headquarters, for a briefing before setting off to the forest for chimpanzee trekking. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on other small organisms, which makes it interesting.

    The walk will reward you with other primates like grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys and other species like butterflies.

    After tracking the chimps, you will go for a nature walk in Bigodi swamp in the afternoon, to see unique flora and fauna.

    Day 5: Kibale National Park – Queen Elizabeth Park

    Begin your morning with a visit to ‘Amabeere Ga Nyinamwiru caves‘ and Nyakasura Falls in Fort Portal. Thereafter, you will drive southwards into Queen Elizabeth National Park, with amazing sightseeing and game viewing en-route.

    Day 6: Uganda Safari in Queen Elizabeth Park

    Dawn a game drive in Uganda’s best park, where all the big game can be seen in abundance. The park is famous for tree climbing lions, giant elephants and kobs, but expect to see some rarer animals like giant forest hogs. In addition, there are more than 638 recorded bird species in the park, which is good for birders.

    After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, which connects Lakes Edward and George, for large numbers of buffaloes and hippos.

    Day 7: Queen – Bwindi

    Today’s drive is through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests which reach to the volcanoes in which the famous mountain gorillas live. A visit to the bat cave close to Maramagambo forest or a glance of Kyambura gorge is a must!

    Make a game drive through Ishasha sector on your way to Bwindi Impenetrable in search of the tree climbing lions. Later on, drive to Bwindi via the beautiful scenery of tea plantations. This is the lushest highland rainforest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds.

    The afternoon is spent on a foot safari through the local communities living around the park.

    Dinner and overnight stay at either Buhoma Lodge, Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Safari Lodge (high-end facilities). Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

    Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

    Begin the day with breakfast and get ready for gorilla trekking experience, which begins at 8:00a.m with a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. Ensure that you carry along your rain jacket, drinking water, snacks and jungle boots among other important gear.

    The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare mountain gorillas, which is perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. There are now only 650 left in the world! The tracking may take between 2 – 6 hours but it’s well worth the effort.

    Dinner and overnight stay at either Buhoma Lodge, Mahogany Springs and Gorilla Safari Lodge (high-end facilitie). Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

    Day 9: Bwindi – Lake Mburo

    After early breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park via Igongo Cultural Village. This is the place where the future meets the past. Learn more about the Ankole culture, and then proceed to the park to do an en-route game drive as you go to check-in at your lodge.

    Afternoon boat ride amidst hippos is much rewarding and amazing.

    Dinner and overnight stay at Mihingo Safari Lodge (high-end lodge). Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

    Day 10: Uganda Safari in Lake Mburo National Park

    Get on a morning game drive in Lake Mburo, which is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of Zebras, Impala, Eland, Warthogs, buffaloes and other savannah species. For birders, this is one of the best place to find African Fin foot, Papyrus and Bush Shrike among others. The evening is spent on a bush walk for wildlife viewing.

    Dinner and overnight stay at Mihingo Safari Lodge (high-end lodge). Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

    Day 11: Lake Mburo – Entebbe Departure

    After early breakfast, the rest of the morning is dedicated for sightseeing and relaxation. So, thereafter you will drive back to Entebbe at your convenience with a stopover at Equator crossing and your lunch en-route, before you drive back to Entebbe. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
