Primates in Semuliki National Park consists of 13 diurnal and six nocturnal species, making the park a remarkable place to visit while you’re on a primates safari in Uganda. The list includes the chimpanzees, which take the most attention from primate safari tourists within the park.
Other primates found in Semuliki National Park include de brazza’s, black and white colobus, red colobus, L’hoest’s, red-tailed, blue and vervet monkeys. Don’t miss the pottos, bush babies, grey-cheeked mangabey and olive baboons.
Six of these diurnal primates found in Semuliki National Park are guenon monkeys, which are members of the taxonomically controversial genus Cercopithecus. The velvet and blue guenon monkeys, for instance, are both widespread African species known by at least five different common names. They both have over 20 recognized races, some of which are considered by some authorities to be separate species.
