Bumaga campsite is a collection of Bandas and cottages found in Semuliki National Park, under the management of Uganda Wildlife Authority. These Bandas and cottages are at Bumaga, which is about 2.5km from Sempaya Hot Springs. This is the starting point for a range of explorations into the Semuliki, including nature walks to the hot springs.
There is enough camping ground available at Bumaga campsite, however, you should come with your own tents to set up on the camping grounds.
Meals at Bumaga campsite can be arranged on order. The catering equipment is available for hire, for visitors who want self-catering while on a Uganda safari visiting Semuliki National Park.
There is also a small minibar that offers soft and a few hard drinks.
A stay at the Bumaga campsite gives you a great chance to spot a lot of bird species and primates in Semuliki. Such primates include the baboons, black and white colobus, red-tailed and vervet monkeys. There are many other mammals such as forest elephants, which occasionally visit the area looking for leftovers while others graze the surrounding ground.
High-end guests can stay at Semuliki Safari Lodge, a luxury safari lodge perched in the middle of Semuliki National Park.
About Semuliki National Park
Semuliki National Park is located in Bwamba County, a remote part of the Bundibugyo district, in western Uganda. It was made a national park in October 1993 and is one of Uganda’s newest national parks. East Africa’s only lowland tropical rainforest of 194 km2 (75 sq mi) in size is found in this park.
Semuliki National Park sprawls across the floor of the Semuliki Valley on the remote, western side of the Rwenzori Mountain National Park. The park is dominated by the easternmost extension of the great Ituri Forest of the Congo Basin. This is one of Africa’s most ancient and bio-diverse forests; one of the few to survive the last ice age, 12,000 -18,000 years ago.
Guests to Semuliki can plan to make an extension safari in Rwanda to visit the mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes and wildlife in Akagera National Park. Rwanda is blessed with the most pristine Nyungwe Forests National Park famous for chimpanzee safaris in Rwanda
